About

I’m Jay Nath. I focus on the problems that matter most in government and how innovative approaches, including AI, can help solve them. My work starts with defining a high-value problem and finding the right solution to improve public services.

At OpenAI, I help governments use AI to improve public services. My perspective draws on experience in city government and building technology for the public sector.

Previously, I served as San Francisco’s first Chief Innovation Officer and co-led Authorium, a technology company serving government. My work has included bringing public servants, entrepreneurs, researchers, and community partners together to solve public problems.

This site is a place to share what I’m learning about AI, public institutions, and how change happens. I aim to make complex ideas accessible and connect them to practical decisions.
